Therapy for Faith & Spiritual Struggles
Exploring questions about faith, spirituality, religious trauma, or the disconnect between what you were taught and what feels true for you—these struggles can feel isolating, especially when the people around you don’t understand or don’t want you to question.
Therapy for faith and spiritual struggles provides space to explore these questions with curiosity—not an agenda about where you should land.
We work together when you’re ready to:
- Process religious trauma or harm done in the name of faith
- Navigate doubt, deconstruction, or questioning what you believe
- Explore spirituality outside the framework you grew up with
- Address guilt or fear that comes with leaving or changing your faith
- Rebuild your sense of identity when faith was central to who you were
- Find what's authentic for you without pressure to conform or reject entirely

Understanding Faith and Spiritual Struggles
Faith and spirituality can be sources of comfort, community, and meaning. They can also be sources of harm, control, shame, and trauma. Sometimes both are true at the same time.
Questioning your faith doesn’t make you broken, weak, or lost.
Together, we’ll explore:
- What your faith or spiritual background has given you and what it’s cost you
- The questions you’re asking and what’s underneath them
- Religious trauma—harm done by religious systems, leaders, or teachings
- The gap between what you were taught and what resonates now
- Grief for what you’re losing or have lost in the process
This isn’t about convincing you to stay or leave, believe or not believe. It’s about creating space to explore what’s true for you without judgment or agenda.

When Therapy for Faith Struggles is Particularly Helpful
This work is especially relevant when:
Faith and Family are Intertwined
Your family’s identity is wrapped up in shared faith, and questioning means risking rejection, conflict, or loss of relationships. Therapy helps you navigate these questions while managing relational consequences.
Religious Trauma is Affecting Your Life
Shame, fear, or beliefs from your religious background are impacting your mental health, relationships, sexuality, or sense of worth. Therapy helps you process the harm and rebuild.
Caught Between Belief and Doubt
You’re not ready to fully leave or fully stay. You’re in the in-between space, and it’s uncomfortable. Therapy creates room to sit with ambivalence and explore at your pace.
Rebuilding After Deconstruction
You’ve deconstructed or left your faith, and now you’re figuring out what you believe, who you are, and what’s meaningful. Therapy supports rebuilding your worldview and identity.
What to Expect in Therapy
First Session
Together, we’ll explore your faith or spiritual background, what’s shifting for you now, and what you’re hoping to understand or work through. This is a space without judgment—you don’t need to defend your questions or your beliefs.
Ongoing Work
We’ll work to understand what your faith has meant to you, process any harm or trauma, explore your questions and doubts, and create space for grief, anger, fear, or relief. You’ll have room to question, deconstruct, integrate, or rebuild—whatever feels right for you.
Your Pace
Some people come weekly, others every other week. We’ll find a rhythm that works for where you are in the process. There’s no pressure to resolve your questions on a timeline.
No Agenda
I don’t have an agenda about whether you stay in your faith, leave it, or land somewhere in between. My role is to create space for your questions and support you in finding what’s true and authentic for you.
My Approach to Faith and Spiritual Work
I approach these questions with curiosity, not an agenda. I’m not here to save your faith or convince you to leave it. I’m here to create space where you can explore what’s true for you without pressure to conform or reject entirely.
Together, we’ll work to understand your faith background, process any harm or trauma, and explore what resonates and what doesn’t. This includes addressing the guilt, fear, or grief that often comes with questioning or changing your beliefs.
I work with people from all faith backgrounds—Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, and others. I also work with people who’ve left faith entirely or are exploring spirituality outside organized religion. Whatever your background or questions, you’re welcome here.
