Therapy for Veterans & Military Families
As a combat Marine veteran who’s navigated the transition to civilian life, I know firsthand what military culture asks of us—and what it costs. The pressure to appear strong while questioning yourself inside. The weight of experiences that civilians can’t quite understand. The challenge of translating who you were in uniform to who you’re becoming outside of it.
Online therapy with a veteran therapist in North Carolina, California, and Virginia makes it possible to work with someone who speaks your language—no matter where you’re stationed or located.
We work together when you’re ready to:
- Process deployment experiences and military-related stress
- Navigate the transition from military to civilian life
- Address relationship challenges shaped by military life
- Work through anger, hypervigilance, or emotional numbness
- Find purpose and identity beyond the uniform
- Support your family through the unique stressors of military life

Why Work with a Veteran Therapist
There’s a difference between understanding military culture academically and having lived it.
I’ve lived that life. I know what it’s like to carry the weight of leadership, to make impossible decisions, to come home and feel like nobody quite gets it. I’ve experienced the gap between how service members are expected to show up and what’s actually happening underneath.
Working with a veteran therapist means:
- You don’t have to explain military acronyms, rank structure, or deployment cycles
- I understand the specific challenges of military-to-civilian transition
- No judgment about how you’re “supposed” to handle things
- Recognition that strength includes knowing when to ask for help
Respect for your service without making assumptions about your experience
This isn’t about war stories or comparing deployments. It’s about creating space where you can be honest about what you’re carrying—with someone who understands the context you’re coming from.

Online Therapy for Military-Specific Situations
Virtual therapy is particularly helpful when:
Active Duty Flexibility
You’re currently serving with unpredictable schedules, deployment cycles, or locations. Evening and weekend sessions accommodate duty schedules and time zones.
Geographic Challenges
You’re stationed at Fort Liberty (formerly Bragg), Camp Lejeune, or other military installations in North Carolina, California, or Virginia but need flexibility traditional offices can’t offer.
Post-Transition Support
You’ve transitioned out of the military and relocated to a new area within CA, NC, or VA. Online therapy provides consistent support without needing to find a new therapist in each location.
Military Family Needs
You’re a military spouse or family member stationed in CA, NC, or VA dealing with deployments, the unique stressors of military life, or supporting a service member while managing your own needs.
What to Expect in Therapy
First Session
Together, we’ll explore what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping will change. This is a judgment-free space—I’m not here to diagnose you with anything or tell you how you “should” feel about your service or experiences.
Ongoing Work
We’ll focus on what’s keeping you stuck, understanding patterns that aren’t serving you anymore, and building tools that actually work for your life. You set the pace—there’s no timeline for “getting better.”
Your Pace
Some veterans come weekly, others every other week or monthly. We’ll find a rhythm that works for your schedule and what feels helpful.
Military-Informed Approach
I understand military culture, but I’m not going to assume your experience matches mine. Every service member’s path is different, and our work together honors your unique story.
My Approach to Working with Veterans
I don’t come in with assumptions about what your military experience was like or what it should mean for you now. Some veterans feel proud of their service. Some feel conflicted. Some feel both at different times. All of that is valid.
Together, we’ll work to understand what you’re carrying and what you want to be different. Whether you’re dealing with specific deployment experiences, struggling with the transition, or trying to figure out who you are outside of the military—we create space to explore that without judgment.
I work with veterans from all service branches, eras, and MOS backgrounds. I’m LGBTQ+ affirming and work with veterans of all identities and relationship structures. Your service is respected here, and so are you.

Common Questions About Therapy for Veterans
Q: Do I need to have combat experience to work with you?
A: No. I work with veterans from all backgrounds—combat arms, support roles, never deployed, multiple deployments. Your service is your service. Whether you were boots on ground or stateside, whether you saw combat or not—you don’t need to justify seeking support.
Q: Will you understand if I was in a different branch?
A: Yes. While I’m a Marine veteran, I work with veterans from all service branches. The core aspects of military culture—the expectation to be strong, the transition challenges, the feeling of being misunderstood by civilians—transcend branch differences.
Q: What are your fees?
A: I operate on a self-pay basis, which allows for more flexibility and privacy. We can discuss fees during your free consultation. Learn more about fees and insurance options.
